Story
We had to make a book in our workshop today based on the research we have gathered for our project so far. Yesterday when I was drawing around the school, I overheard some kids having a spelling lesson. One of them was misbehaving and the teacher said 'If you don't finish your work, then you won't get a cuddle' which I found highly amusing as the little boy was distraught and got on with his work right away! Here is the book I made using this as a starting point. It is in the form of a concertina book so it would be seen in one long strip normally!

Dogs
Not seen my dogs for 66 days, which is a joke. Miss them so much. These are some old drawings I did for Mum as a birthday present a few years ago.

Finals?
These are some potential ideas for the inside illustrations of The Swimmer. I've tried to be quite daring with the use of space and wanted the images to feel isolated on the page like the character in the story.

Legs
Probably not going to use any of these but tried out a bit of mono printing at home last week and there are the odd few paintings/drawings of legs thrown in that I did a while ago!

Graham Rawle
We had a workshop on Monday with artist and writer, Graham Rawle, in which we were given two words which we then had to make up a visual story with. I was given 'ambitious table'and with the limit of 100 words or less, I came up with the following response.
We also had a very interesting lecture from Graham in the morning, he had a lot of great stuff to talk about and he has really inspired me to take an interest in collecting something, not sure what that will be yet but I think I should have a project of some kind.

Personal Journal
Don't want to get entirely overtaken by my project so finally got round to starting a personal journal again!

The Swimmer
Today I had a contextual presentation (about the reinvention of classic book covers) which I enjoyed a surprising amount! Topics are so much easier to talk about when you're actually interested in them. Anyway I can now fully concentrate on my project! I've come up with a few initial ideas, been focusing on themes within the story such as maps, alcohol and obviously swimming, which will hopefully help me progress through to some final outcomes later in the project.

Personality
Workshop focusing on personality and character. We had to create a life sized drawing of a character from our chosen story. I chose Shirley Adams, someone who i imagine to be young, seductive and at this particular time, confused and mildly angry!
